About
About Stonks Run
Stonks Run is an independently built, automated stock screen. It scans the S&P 500 and S&P 400 MidCap indices during market hours and ranks them against several published trading frameworks — Mark Minervini's Trend Template, William O'Neil's CANSLIM, and momentum criteria associated with Dan Zanger and the trader known as Qullamaggie.
Why this exists
Most retail-facing stock screeners fall into one of two categories. Either they hand you a number with no explanation of where it came from, or they bury a simple filter under a subscription and a great deal of confident language about proprietary signals.
This site takes a different approach: publish the rankings, publish the full methodology, publish the limitations, and explain the underlying frameworks well enough that a reader can judge the output for themselves. The methodology page documents every approximation and every known weakness, including the ones that make the tool look worse.
The screen exists primarily as a learning tool — a way to see how well-known trading frameworks actually behave across a real universe of stocks, day after day, rather than in the curated examples that appear in books.
What this site is not
- Not an advisory service. Nothing here is personalized advice, and no one associated with this site is a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer.
- Not a signal service. The lists are not buy or sell recommendations. They are the output of publicly documented filters applied to public data.
- Not selling anything. There is no subscription, no course, no premium tier, and no paid group. The site is free and supported by advertising.
- Not affiliated with any of the traders whose frameworks it references. Minervini, O'Neil, Zanger, and Qullamaggie have no involvement with, and have not reviewed, this implementation. The frameworks are implemented from publicly published descriptions of their work.
- Not a source of real-time data. Prices are delayed roughly 15–20 minutes.
How it is built
The scanner is a Python program that pulls daily and intraday price data along with published fundamentals, computes each framework's criteria, and writes ranked results as structured data. The site reads that data and renders it. The entire pipeline runs automatically on a schedule; no one hand-picks or edits the rankings, and no stock is ever promoted, sponsored, or placed for payment.
If a name appears on this site, it is because it scored there. There is no mechanism by which it could appear for any other reason.
Community
There is a Discord server for discussing the screen, the frameworks behind it, and markets generally. It operates under clear rules: no personalized advice, no soliciting trades, no signal-selling, and no coordinated promotion of any security. It is a place to learn and discuss, not a trading group.
Contact
Questions about the methodology, corrections, or bug reports are genuinely welcome — particularly corrections. An automated screen built on free data will get things wrong, and knowing about it is useful.

For anything relating to data accuracy, please include the ticker and roughly when you saw the issue, since the underlying data refreshes throughout the day.
